To book give us a call in the office on 01275 332627 or visit our online booking form. Here's a quick overview of some of our most frequently asked questions, hope it helps!
We have an a la carte menu available for lunch and dinner every day. On Sundays at lunch time we offer a special a la carte menu that includes roast dinner options. We also have a tasting menu that is available very lunch and dinner service apart from Sunday lunch time.
While it is often possible to decide between tasting and a la carte menu options on the day of your reservation, we recommend you let us know in advance if you would definitely like the tasting menu in order to avoid any disappointment. It is also essential that you let us know of any allergies or dietary requirements in advance if you wish to have the tasting menu.
Our menus are constantly evolving to reflect the seasons and change daily, while retaining their simplicity. If you want to know what’s being served around the time of your visit, we update the menu section of our website every day just before lunch and dinner service.
Our philosophy is that food should go from ‘field to fork’ with as few steps between as possible.
The surrounding farmland is the source of all our fresh ingredients and the team know where everything on the menu came from, so feel free to ask them any questions you might have. Everything we serve is based around quality local produce either reared or grown sustainably.
We are used to dealing all kinds of allergies and dietary requirements but please let us know in advance and we will do our best to tailor a menu to suit them. Please be aware that on very rare occasions we might not be able to accommodate very severe dietary restrictions.
Yes, children are welcome and we like to make sure they are comfortable so please mention there are children in your party when booking online or on the phone. We have high chairs too should they be needed. Regrettably there is not a lot of space inside the pub so we would ask that you please leave large pushchairs and buggies in your car and only bring small car seats into the pub if needed.
Yes. Sunday is a huge part of what we do and we offer a special Sunday roast menu. We take reservations for lunch from 12-3.30pm and dinner from 7pm-9.00pm.
Yes, the Pony and Trap is a pub at heart and we do keep a couple of tables spare if you’d just like to join us for a drink. However, our bar area is very small, so we can’t promise there will be space to sit at peak times when we have lots of people waiting to be seated for their reservations.
Unfortunately due to our rural location, there is no public transport to the area. You will need to either drive or arrange a taxi. We would advise that if you are booking a taxi to come to us, you also pre-book your return journey as taxi companies are sometimes reluctant to come to us at short notice.
Yes, you are more than welcome to bring a birthday cake, which we will serve after your dessert course with coffee. Please note that if less than half of your party order dessert we will have to charge a small fee to serve the cake. We do not make birthday cakes ourselves, but we can order one for you with enough notice.
Dogs are welcome, but only in the bar area. Please mention when booking that you are bringing a dog and we will do our best to ensure you are on a table with adequate room for them.
We do have disabled access via a ramp to the bar area but unfortunately no wheelchair access to the restaurant due to steps. Because of the age of the building, we do not have a disabled toilet, although if your table is in the bar area this is on the same level as the toilets.
If you wish to make a reservation it must be for a table inside, just in case the unpredictable British weather turns out to be unsuitable. However, if the weather is nice it is often possible to move your reservation outside if the weather turns out to be nice. Please be aware that even though there may be tables available in the garden, we may not be able to accommodate your party for food without a reservation if we are fully booked inside.
We have our own car park next to the main building. If we are particularly busy and this is full, you are welcome to park on the road along the front of the pub. If you are planning to drive to us and then get a taxi home, you are welcome to leave your car in our car park overnight, but we do ask that you collect it by 11am the next day.
We have some lovely gift vouchers at The Pony & Trap which make the ideal gift. To get your hands on one for a loved one, please email, contact us via telephone or ask us next time you visit.
Gift vouchers can be made out to any monetary value, and you can either collect one in person or we can post them for a small charge to cover postage and packaging. Vouchers are strictly valid for 12 months from date of purchase and cannot be extended beyond this time.
